About John Brown
John L. Brown is a standup comedian who was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina. From the time he could talk, John loved standup comedy and before long he was entertaining his friends and family. At age 8, wrote a funny Halloween story called, “The Runaway Pumpkin” and the story won a contest and was printed in the local newspaper. At age 11, he. wrote and performed his own comedy sketches at local school talent shows and eventually joined theater in 6th grade, which is where he found his passion for performing. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force as a B-52 Crew Chief. In 2007, John left the military and studied both history and economics at the University of North Texas in Denton, Tx, before graduating in 2011.
After a couple years of soul searching, he decided to give standup comedy a shot. He did his first open mic at Dallas Comedy House in June of 2012 and has never looked back. You can now catch John performing regularly at his local clubs, but also at clubs and theaters all over the country. John lives in Dallas,Tx, but tours regularly with Ben Creed(Showtime, HBO) and also performs regularly with William Lee Martin (also know as “Cowboy Bill”)(Amazon Prime, CMT) on the “Open For Business” tour.
John has performed multiple times on Tony Hinchcliffe's infamous podcast, "Kill Tony", which is currently one of the most popular and fastest growing comedy podcasts in the world. John was a semi-finalist two years in a row in the"Funniest Comic in Texas Competiton”(2018,2019). In 2018, he was invited to perform on a live showcase for a chance to represent Dallas in the third season of the hit standup comedy show on Comedy Central, "Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of the City". John has also performed at the "Motor City Comedy Festival"(Detroit, Mi), "North Texas Comedy Festival"(Denton, Tx) “Tower City Comedy Festival"(Paris,Tx), and he is performing in March 2021 at"Skankfest South", at "The Secret Group" in Houston, Tx.
John L. Brown tours the country regularly and opens/has opened for many popular comedians like Pauly Shore, Shane Torres, Kevin Farley, Chris Porter, Eddie Ifft, Steven Michael Quezada, Shane Mauss, Robert Hawkins, William Lee Martin, Ben Creed, Fifi Dosch, and Sam Tripoli.
